TV India today announced popular R&B singer Sumeet as the new host of
their weekly cable and satellite television show "VDESi". The North
American singer who stormed the music industry earlier this year with her
smash hit "Agony" featuring Atlantic Records recording artist Elephant
Man, will take over hosting duties immediately.
Rippy Sethi, President of TV India welcomed their new host: "We are
very pleased to have Sumeet on board. Our show focuses more on reaching
out and connecting with the South Asian community. With Sumeet's fan-base
and singing career, it allows us to continue in that tradition. We are
looking forward to expanding our reach and continuing to grow along
with the South Asian community."
Sumeet comments: "I'm very excited and honored to be the new host of
"VDESi". It's a great opportunity for me to reach into people's homes and
connect with them every week. I'm hoping to add a new twist of flavor
and spice to the show, and to get all different kinds of people
involved, young and old."
"VDESi" is a popular South Asian based variety show that has been
running for over four years and is helmed by creator Rippy Sethi. Each week
viewers watch different segments including interviews with celebrities
such as Ravi Shankar or Amitabh Bachan, and a weekly trivia quiz with
prizes. The "U2U" part of the show features "Masala Bhangra" diva Sarina
Jain on the streets, speaking with random New Yorkers who request
classic or current Bollywood song clips.
"VDESi" airs every Saturday morning at 9:00am on Time Warner Cable,
Comcast, Cablevision, RCN, DISH Network, DirecTV, and other networks in
the New York Tri-State area, as well as the Seattle Pacific Northwest.
